Brush Fire Risk: High - Safety and Awareness info attached
With brush fire season upon us, April is the vital time to prioritize fire safety and property preparedness. With the warmer weather, low relative humidity and lack of green foliage on the trees, the risk for brush fires to occurr and grow in the spring months is high. Recently the Township of Washington Fire Department has responded to a number of brush fires due to the weather conditions and some may have been prevented entirely with a stronger awareness of the associated risks surrounding brush fires during this time of year.
Due to current environmental conditions and high fire risk, residents are urged to exercise extreme caution when cooking outdoors, landscaping, or using fire pits. Please remain vigilant; if you see fire or smell smoke, report it immediately by calling 9-1-1.
Residents are reminded of Township Ordinance 120-5 which prohibits Open Burning to minimize the risk of uncontrolled fire spread.
