Road closures in the downtown Athens area will begin on Fri., April 17, expand by Sat., April 18, and continue throughout the weekend for the Athens Twilight events.
Due to heavy traffic on Friday and Saturday, downtown visitors should allow plenty of time for travel and parking, use alternate routes for travel to downtown, consider other transportation options such as Athens-Clarke County Transit or rideshare, and look into alternative parking options due to limited availability.
Road closures will involve:
Fri., 6:00 AM
- College Avenue from E. Clayton Street to E. Washington Street (access to the College Avenue parking deck when spaces are available will be allowed from E. Clayton St.)
- E. Washington Street from N. Lumpkin Street to N. Jackson Street
Sat., 6:00 AM
North / South
- N. Lumpkin Street from E. Broad Street to E. Hancock Avenue
- College Avenue from E. Broad Street to E. Hancock Avenue (no deck access)
- N. Jackson Street from E. Broad Street to E. Hancock Avenue
- Wall Street
- N. Thomas Street from E. Broad Street to E. Hancock Avenue
East / West
- E. Clayton Street from N. Lumpkin Street to N. Thomas Street
- E. Washington Street from N. Lumpkin Street to N. Thomas Street
Roads will begin to re-open late evening on Sat. and continue to re-open through the morning and afternoon of Sun., April 19.
