El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from April 5th to April 11th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from April 5th to April 11th.     
 
April 5th
Public Intoxication - Central Ave/San Pablo Ave:
At 1:27 AM, an officer located a subject passed out on the sidewalk. The subject was intoxicated and unable to care for themself. The subject was placed under arrest and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Trespass – 1300 block of Richmond St:
At 9:33 AM, an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a suspect who barged into an ex-girlfriend’s house and refused to leave. The subject was placed under arrest and then transsported Martinez Detention Facility.
 
Driving Under the Influence - San Pablo Ave/Schmidt Ln:
At 9:52 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. The officer conducted a records check and discovered the driver currently has a suspended driver’s license due to two DUI convictions and their vehicle was required to have an ignition interlock device. After booking, the driver was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility and their vehicle was impounded for thirty days.

April 6th
 
Arson - 11344 San Pablo Ave (Denny’s):
At 12:15 AM, officers responded to the business for a subject lighting a bush/tree on fire. Upon arrival officers located the suspect in the parking lot and an employee placed the subject under Citizen’s Arrest. During a search incident to arrest, the subject was found to be in possession of drug paraphrenia. After booking, the subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Petty Theft/Distributing explicit material – 11700 block of San Pablo Ave
At 11:30 AM, the victim reports that an ex partner stole items from them and then posted explicit images of them on line.

Residential Burglary – 5300 Block of Cypress:
At 1:40 PM, the victim reports a suspect entered their residence and stole items.

Vehicle Tampering – 10800 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 2:49 PM, the victim reports their vehicle had been tampered with over the course of one month repeatedly.

Stolen Vehicle/Evading/Possession of Stolen Property/Identity Theft/Possession of Pepper Spray by a minor – 1300 Block of Richmond Street:
At 2:05 AM, officers located a stolen vehicle.  A traffic stop was initiated and the driver led officers on a pursuit into Richmond.  The driver was taken into custody after they crashed the stolen vehicle and found to be in possession of stolen property. The driver was later released at the El Cerrito Police Department to a parent.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 1300 block of Richmond Street:
At 2:20 AM, officers circulated the area of where the above pursuit started and located a parked unreported stolen vehicle.

April 7th
Stolen Vehicle – 1400 block of Everett Street:
At 7:30 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen.

Petty Theft – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls):
At 3:30 PM, the victim reports a suspect entered the store and stole items. 

Petty Theft – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls):
At 5:26 PM, the victim reports a suspect entered the store and stole items. 

Petty Theft – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls):
At 5:28 PM, the victim reports a suspect entered the store and stole items. 

Biking while intoxicated/Collision – BART Path/Fairmount Ave.
At 6:01 PM, officers responded to a bicycle vs. pedestrian collision.  Both parties were transported to the hospital with significant injuries.  The bicyclist admitted to consuming alcohol. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

Warrant Arrest Narcotics/Drug Paraphernalia – San Pablo Ave/MacDonald Ave.
At 3:20 AM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop on a subject who had a warrant for their arrest.  The subject was also found in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.  The subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility Martinez.

April 8th 
Burglary/Warrant Arrest – 5300 Block of Cypress Ave:
At 7:41 AM, Officers arrested a suspect who was currently inside of a residence.  The suspect was found to have an outstanding warrant. The subject was placed under arrest and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. They were then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.  

Possess Burglary Tools, Possess Stolen Vehicle, Provide Wrong Name to Law Enforcement, Possess Narcotics and Narcotic equipment, Warrant Arrest – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens)
At 11:45 AM, Officers received a FLOCK alert for a stolen vehicle.  The vehicle was located and a suspect was arrested.  The suspect was found to be in possession of burglary tools, narcotics and narcotic equipment. Additionally, the suspect had an outstanding warrant. THe suspect was placed under arrest, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.  

Petty Theft – 1700 Block of Elm Street:
At 4:20 PM, the victim reports their items were stolen.

Burglary – 11700 block of San Pablo Avenue:
At 5:09 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was entered and items were stolen.
 
April 9th
Trespassing, Possess Burglary Tools – 800 block of S. 55th Street:
At 9:00 AM, a suspect was arrested for trespassing and was found to be in possession of burglary tools.  The suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
 
Shoplifting, Possession of Narcotics, and Narcotics Equipment – 420 El Cerrito Plaza (PETCO):
At 2:13 PM, a suspect was arrested after taking items from the establishment.  They were found to be in possession of narcotics and narcotics equipment and were on probation.  The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

Battery – 1700 block of Lexington Avenue:
At 7:02 PM, officers responded to a Battery between two subjects.  Both subjects wanted to place each other under citizen’s arrest.  It was undetermined who the primary aggressor was. The case with be forward to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

Stolen Vehicle – San Pablo Ave/Stockton Ave.
At 8:47 PM, the victim left their vehicle running in the parking lot and an unknown suspect stole the vehicle.  The vehicle was later recovered unoccupied several blocks away.

Public Intoxication– San Pablo Ave/Conlon Ave:
At 10:05 PM, officers responded to a subject yelling and kicking trash cans in the area.  The subject was located and found to be heavily intoxicated. The subject was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facilty.

Shoplifting/Probation Violation/Theft with Priors/Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave/Cutting Blvd:
At 10:41 PM, officers responded to a theft that just occurred.  Officers located the subject in the area.  The subject was placed under citizen’s arrest.  The subject was on felony probation, had several prior convictions for theft and had a misdemeanor warrant for their arrest.  The subject was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Public Intoxication – 5600 Block of Poinsett Avenue:
At 1:04 AM, officers responded to an unknown subject in the backyard of a residence.  Officers located the subject in the backyard who was heavily intoxicated.  The subject was placed under arrest, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave/Knott Ave.
At 5:15 AM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a subject on a felony non-citeable warrant for theft out of San Jose PD.  The subject was later transported to the Martinez Dention Facility.

April 10th
Robbery - 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS):
At 8:47 PM, an officer reports the security guard attempted to stop the suspect from exiting the store with unpaid merchandise. The suspect punched the security guard and fled the store. A responding officer located the suspect at the El Cerrito Plaza BART station and detained them. The suspect was positively identified during an infield show-up and placed under arrest. After the suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

April 11th
Driving Under the Influence - Central Ave/Carlson Blvd:
At 12:06 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were issued a citation and released to a sober friend.

Driving Under the Influence - San Pablo Ave/Stockton:
At 2:41 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were issued a citation and released to a sober relative.

Driving Under the Influence - San Pablo Ave/Stockton:
At 3:01 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
