Sheriff Clint Roach reports that on 04/17/2026 at approximately 1945 hours, deputies of the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a single vehicle crash on Bellows Rd south of Sweet Rd., in Porter Township, Cass County Michigan.
The investigation showed that a vehicle driven by a 16 year old Juvenile from Edwardsburg, MI was southbound on Bellows Rd. when he collided with a log in the roadway, causing him to lose control of his vehicle, hit a tree, and overturned. His 19 year old passenger, Gabriel Smith, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Smith was transported by SEPSA EMS to Memorial Hospital. The Driver was treated and released at the scene.
Assisting agencies on scene were SEPSA EMS, Newburg EMS and SEPSA Fire Department.
The crash remains under investigation.
