On the evening of April 18, 2026, SVPD Officers responded to the 100 block of Silver Fern Ct. regarding a report of a suspect outside the victim’s residence pointing a handgun through the victim’s window. Upon observing the weapon, the victim immediately moved away from the window and contacted SVPD Dispatch. When officers arrived at the location they located and detained the suspect outside his residence. Further investigation revealed that the suspect had positioned multiple firearms around his residence, stating they were for the protection of himself and his neighbors. The firearm used in the incident was recovered and found to be loaded. The suspect Simi Valley resident John Curiale (49 yrs-old) was subsequently arrested for violation of 245(a) PC – Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Multiple firearms were seized from the suspect’s residence.
