Burn Ban Remains in Effect Across McDowell County Emergency officials remind residents that the burn ban remains in place due to continued hazardous conditions. Weather stations across the county reported less than 0.05 inches of rainfall overnight, with several locations receiving no rain. Severe drought conditions continue with no rain expected until next weekend. Combined with gusty winds expected today, fire danger remains elevated, increasing the risk of rapidly spreading wildfires. All outdoor burning is strictly prohibited while the ban is in effect. Citations are being issued to individuals found in violation of the burn ban. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and to report any fires immediately by dialing 911. Emergency officials will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as necessary.
