Press Conference: Fairfield Police Launch Innovative Drone Program to Improve Safety and Service for the Community
FAIRFIELD, Calif. — The Fairfield Police Department is proud to introduce an innovative leap forward in public safety: the launch of its Drone as First Responder (DFR) program, a state-of-the-art initiative designed to revolutionize emergency response, enhance situational awareness, and support safer outcomes for the Fairfield community.
Powered by advanced technology from Flock Safety, the DFR program deploys remotely piloted drones from secure rooftop docking stations throughout the city. These drones can launch within seconds and respond to incidents in as little as 90 seconds—providing officers and dispatchers with live, real-time aerial video during emergencies, critical incidents, and calls for service.
This immediate overhead perspective gives first responders the information they need before arriving on scene, improving decision-making, reducing risks, and helping ensure the right resources are sent at the right time.
DFR will also expand the capabilities of the department’s growing Real-Time Information Center, allowing personnel to access and share vital data quickly across patrol, investigations, and emergency response teams. By integrating live drone footage with modernized policing tools, Fairfield continues to invest in smarter, more responsive public safety strategies.
Department leaders will highlight how this program strengthens Fairfield’s commitment to community, transparency, innovation, and intelligence-led policing while setting a strong foundation for the future of real-time public safety technology in the city.
