...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY EVENING FOR LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND GUSTY WINDS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST NORTH CAROLINA... a Fire Weather Watch for low relative humidity and gusty winds is in effect from Monday afternoon through Monday evening. Due to the ongoing drought and a lack of appreciable rainfall, critical fire weather conditions are met at relative humidity values of 30% or less. The National Weather Service in Morristown has issued a Fire Weather Watch, which is in effect from Monday afternoon through Monday evening.
* TIMING...Noon to 8pm Monday
* WIND...Northwest at 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Gusts up to 30 mph are possible along the mountain peaks.
* HUMIDITY...25 to 30 percent.
* IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
* AFFECTED AREAS: CHEROKEE ... CLAY
