Middlesex County Prosecutor Linda Estremera and Chief Raymond Hayducka of the South Brunswick Police Department announced today that a fatal crash that occurred during the early morning of April 19, 2026, in South Brunswick Township is under investigation.

On April 19, 2026, at approximately 2:04 A.M., South Brunswick Police Department received report of a collision on Route 1 North at the intersection of Ridge Road. When authorities arrived on scene, they found three vehicles involved in the crash. A 2025 Toyota Camry operated by a 31-year-old female from Jersey City, was struck in the rear by a 2012 Lexus SUV operated by a 53-year-old man from Chester, PA. The driver and passenger of the Camry exited the vehicle to assess the damage and speak with the driver of the Lexus SUV. While they were outside of the vehicle, a 2016 Lexus Sedan operated by a 45-year-old male from Trenton, struck the rear of the Lexus SUV pinning the driver of the Lexus SUV between the two cars.

The driver of the Lexus SUV was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Lexus Sedan was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Camry sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The passenger of the Camry sustained no injuries.
