Advisory

Red Flag Warning until 09:00PM Wednesday

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT WEDNESDAY FROM 11 AM UNTIL 9 PM MDT FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHERN AND EASTERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT WEDNESDAY FROM 11 AM UNTIL 9 PM MDT FOR MUCH OF CENTRAL AND WESTERN NEW MEXICO AND THE EAST CENTRAL PLAINS DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT THURSDAY FROM 8 AM UNTIL 8 PM MDT FOR MUCH OF EASTERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY... .Dry and windy conditions will occur across much of central and northern New Mexico on Wednesday afternoon. The lowest humidities will focus over central and northeastern New Mexico while the strongest winds are expected in northern New Mexico. While fuel moisture remains near normal in portions of western and central New Mexico, the fast drying of fine fuels may support rapid fire spread. Wind speeds were the limiting factor that contributed to only upgrading a portion of the Red Flag Warning on Wednesday. Windy and dry conditions will continue on Thursday, with critical conditions most likely across eastern New Mexico. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Warning...which is in effect from 11 AM to 9 PM MDT Wednesday. A Fire Weather Watch has also been issued. This Fire Weather Watch is in effect from Thursday morning through Thursday evening.

* AREA AND TIMING...For the Red Flag Warning, Northeast Plains (Zone 104), Northeast Highlands (Zone 123), and Central Highlands (Zone 125) Wednesday from 11 AM until 9 PM MDT. For the Fire Weather Watch, Thursday from 8 AM until 8 PM MDT.

* 20 FOOT WINDS...For Wednesday, southwest to west winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. For Thursday, west winds 20 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph in the Central Highlands.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values of 6 to 9 percent each day.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

* AFFECTED AREAS: NORTHEAST PLAINS ... NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS ... CENTRAL HIGHLANDS
