INCIDENT: In-Custody Death Investigation
LOCATION: West Valley Detention Center, Rancho Cucamonga
DECEDENT: Alexis Moron Ledinich, 45-year-old male, Resident of Fontana
SUMMARY: On Monday, April 20, 2026, at approximately 5:28 a.m., deputies assigned to the West Valley Detention Center discovered an unresponsive inmate. Deputies and jail medical staff immediately initiated lifesaving measures. Personnel from American Medical Response and the Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department responded and continued resuscitation efforts. Despite these efforts, Ledinich was pronounced deceased.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded to the location and assumed the investigation. It was found that Ledinich was originally arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center on Thursday, June 19, 2025, by the Fontana Sheriff’s Station for several crimes, including a charge of PC 273.6. Ledinich did not have obvious signs of trauma. His cause and manner of death will be determined after an autopsy.
