Attention High School Seniors - Scholarship deadlines are fast approaching!

The Borough of Ho-Ho-Kus is excited to share with you the following information about local scholarships available to graduating High School students/residents (qualifications vary) for 2026. Each organization has their own specific criteria and the awards will be determined by each group independently. There are brief descriptions and the links for more information on how to apply are listed below. Congratulations on your upcoming graduation and good luck with this scholarship process.

The Ho-Ho-Kus Stigma Free Committee is pleased to announce it will be offering two $500 scholarships in 2026 to Ho-Ho-Kus residents that are graduating High School seniors planning to continue their education in the areas of mental health, social work, guidance counseling or education. Other applicants could be those that have experienced mental health issues in some way in their lives.  This scholarship is the result of a collaboration between the Ho-Ho-Kus Mayor & Council, the Ho-Ho-Kus Board of Education, the Administration of both the school district and borough, along with Faculty, Staff and Borough Employees. The Ho-Ho-Kus Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary is pleased to announce that it is offering two $1000 scholarships for individuals planning to continue their education. One will be awarded to a member of the Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department or immediate family and one to a Ho-Ho-Kus resident with no fire department affiliation.  The scholarships will be awarded based on a variety of factors including demonstration of outstanding community service. 
Deadline for submission is May 5th.

Each year the Ho-Ho-Kus Garden Club awards scholarships of up to $1,000 from funds raised at the annual Garden Club Plant Sale. To qualify, an applicant must be a resident of or student in Bergen County and studying environmental science, ecology, horticulture, forestry, landscape architecture or a related field as a rising college sophomore, junior or senior. Employees working in the fields above and pursuing further education are also eligible.

Jerry M. Schwartz Memorial Scholarship. All June 2026 high school graduates who attended eighth grade at the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School and are residents of Ho-Ho-Kus are invited to apply for the Jerry M. Schwartz Memorial Scholarship. This fund was established by the Schwartz Family upon the death of Jerry Schwartz who was a student at the Ho-Ho-Kus School. They have chosen to honor their son and brother in the form of a $2,000 scholarship to be awarded to an individual student.

To be eligible, a student must be accepted to a two or four year college. The applicant must be a Ho-Ho-Kus graduate who exhibits evidence of being a caring, ethical individual, and received a passing grade in his/her high school program. Applications for the Jerry M. Schwartz Memorial Scholarship should be sent to:

Please note that the application requires a statement from the applicant explaining a life experience that had a positive impact and resulted in personal growth and positive change. Documentation of actual college expenses, as well as a letter of recommendation, will also be required. Completed applications will be confidential and reviewed by the Ho-Ho-Kus superintendent and a member of the Schwartz family. Applications are available at www.hohokus.org or the school office, and must be postmarked by April 30, 2026.


The Contemporary Club of Ho-Ho-Kus is offering a $1,000 merit-based scholarship to one graduating high school senior who has been a Ho-Ho-Kus resident for at least one year.
