Narrative:

During the month of April 2026, Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the cities of Thousand Oaks and Moorpark responded to more than 25 calls for service involving thefts from vehicles.  These crimes primarily occurred during the early morning hours on several dates in April.  Multiple reports were taken and the cases were investigated by detectives in the East County Investigations Bureau.  Investigators quickly identified the suspect as Jason Kohr, who had been previously arrested for a similar series of crimes he had committed just months earlier in several Ventura County cities.

On April 20th, 2026, the East County Special Enforcement Unit located Kohr in the city of Ventura and took him into custody for the crimes committed in Thousand Oaks.  During the arrest, investigators located stolen property in Kohr’s possession.  Kohr was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for five counts of PC 459(a) – Burglary, ten counts of PC 484(a) – Petty Theft, two counts of PC 487a – Grand Theft, eight counts of VC 10852 – Vehicle Tampering, three counts of PC 664/459(a) – Attempted burglary, PC 666.1(a)(1) – Theft with two or more prior theft convictions, HS 11364(a) – Possession of drug paraphernalia, HS 11377(a) – Possession of a controlled substance, HS 11350(a) – Possession of a controlled substance, PC 484e(a) – Theft of an access card, and PC 978.5 – Bench warrant.
Based on stolen property found in his possession, Kohr may be responsible for additional reported and unreported thefts in various jurisdictions within Ventura County and the surrounding counties. Kohr had his first hearing today and was remanded back into custody on $25,000 bail.
