Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun charges.
On April 21st at approximately 12:18 p.m., members of the Gun Intelligence Unit were in the area of Sherman and North Lombard Streets when they observed a male subject acting suspiciously. Officers attempted to make contact with the male subject in the 500 block of East 10th Street, at which time he fled the area on foot. A short time later, the male subject was taken into custody without further incident and identified as 23-year-old Avery Brown. Officers recovered a loaded .9mm handgun.
Brown has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited- Two Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Resisting Arrest
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $30,500 cash-only bail.
