El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from April 12th to April 18th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from April 12th to April 18th.     
 
April 12th
Vandalism – 11360 San Pablo Ave:
At 1:43 PM, an officer arrested a suspect after witnessing them vandalizing the rear of the office building with graffiti. The subject was placed under arrest, issued a citation, and released at the scene.
  
Battery - 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At 9:40 PM, an officer reports the victim was charging their cellphone when they saw the suspect take the phone. The victim confronted the suspect and was punched/kicked by the suspect.

April 13th
Shoplift - 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 8:05 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect concealed merchandise in a duffle bag and fled the store without paying.

April 14th
Possession of Narcotics and Paraphernalia - 5400 block of Zara Ave:
At 3:27 AM, officers responded to the area for subjects knocking on the reporting parties front door. Officers located two subjects walking in the area and contacted them. Officers discovered one of the subjects was currently on probation with a search clause. During a search of the subject they were found to be in possession of a glass pipe and suspected methamphetamine. The subject was placed under arrest, issued a citation, and released at the scene.

Attempted Petty Theft – 11600 San Pablo Ave:
At 10:52 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was rummaged through, but nothing was taken.

False Impersonation – 7300 block of Gladys Avenue:
At 5:40 PM, the victim reports an individual contacted them requesting various forms of identification and used this information to defraud the victim.

Sexual Battery – 6400 block of Schmidt Lane:
At 6:54 PM, the victim reported being sexual assaulted by a known suspect.

Warrant Arrest/Identity Theft/Drug Paraphernalia – San Pablo Ave/Knott Avenue:
At 1:06 AM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a subject on a felony parole violation warrant.  The subject also had credit cards that did not belong to them and drug paraphernalia.  The subject was placed under arrest and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

April 15th
Fraud by Illegal Access to Computer Data – 2300 block of Cedar Street:
At 11:12 AM, the victim reports they were defrauded via electronic device.

Sexual Assault, Assault, False Imprisonment and Kidnapping – 500 Block of Ashbury Ave
At 4:48 PM, the victim reports an individual grabbed them, held them against their will, moved them, and touched them inappropriately.

April 16th
Nothing to report

April 17th
Identity Theft – 2000 block of Key Blvd:
At 3:05 PM, an officer took a lobby report for an El Cerrito resident whose bank account was hacked with several successful transactions.

Battery - 2000 block of Junction Ave:
At 10:03 PM, an officer investigated a battery that occurred several weeks ago. The victim stated the suspect had slapped the back of their head over a dispute.

April 18th
Theft From Vehicle - 6900 block of Fairmount Ave:
At 12:11 AM, an officer reports the victim returned to their parked vehicle and noticed a subject inside of it. The suspect fled the area when they saw the victim. The victim conducted an inventory of their vehicle and discovered property had been stolen.

Driving Under the Influence - Central Ave/San Pablo Ave:
At 2:03 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were issued a citation and released to a sober friend. 

Warrant Arrest/Suspended Driver License – Eastshore Blvd/Potrero Ave:
At 1:257 PM, officers responded to a collision with one driver unlicensed.  Investigation revealed the drivers license was suspended for alcohol related offenses.  SFPD also held an arrest warrant for the individual. The suspect  was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, then released on a citation.

Vandalsim – 1500 block of S. 56th St:
At 1:31 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect was captured on video at 7:10 PM on 4/15/26 breaking the radio antenna off the victim’s vehicle.
