Threat Call Investigated at Culver City Retail Store
On Saturday, April 25, 2026, at approximately 10:45 a.m., the Culver City Police Department responded to a reported threat at the Costco located in the 13400 block of Washington Boulevard. An employee reported receiving a call from an anonymous individual claiming they intended to carry out a shooting at the store within fifteen minutes.
Officers responded immediately and worked with store management to safely evacuate the location as a precaution. A thorough investigation was conducted, and the threat was determined to be non-credible. The store has since reopened and resumed normal operations.
Out of an abundance of caution, CCPD will maintain an increased presence in the area throughout the day to provide reassurance to the community.
At this time, there is no known threat to the public. The incident is being investigated as a potential hoax call, commonly referred to as “swatting.” These types of calls are taken seriously, as they can place lives at risk and divert critical public safety resources.
