Advisory

Update #3 on Brantley County Wildfires

Due to dry conditions, shifting winds, and a rapidly evolving wildfire situation in Brantley County, Glynn County officials have now issued a mandatory evacutation for residents near the county line. The mandatory evacuation applies to residents within the following areas:

- Old Post Road to Highway 32
- Highway 32 to Thalman Park Lane
- Thalman Park Lane to Bladen Road
- Bladen Road to Old Post Road

Glynn County has also issued a voluntary evacuation advisory for residents within the following areas:

- Alpine Road
- Gilley Road
- Boones Branch Road
- Sallie Cline Road
- Mauney Street
- Chelsea Circle
- Post Road north of Highway 82
- Old Post Road north of Highway 32

This voluntary evacuation is being issued out of caution to give residents additional time to prepare and relocate early if they choose, as fire behavior and smoke conditions continue to change.

Jekyll Island Emergency Response Teams are continuing to work alongside Glynn County, City of Brunswick and State officials including Georgia Forestry, to monitoring the path of the fire to determine whether additional voluntary or mandatory evacuation orders will be needed.

Residents in the advisory area listed above are encouraged to review their plans, gather essential items, and consider relocating now while they have the ability to gather belongings.

Currently, there remain no immediate evacuation orders for residents of Jekyll Island.

Anticipation of aerial smoke will continue through atleast Sunday. Residents are encouraged to stay indoors to mitigate smoke inhalation.

As a reminder, Glynn County remains under a county-wide burn ban, including personal fires at the Campground.

Glynn County has coordinated with the American Red Cross to establish a shelter at Selden Park, located at 100 Genoa Martin Drive in Brunswick, to support individuals affected by the fires in Brantley County.

If you need shelter or assistance, the American Red Cross is available to help. You can call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), visit redcross.org/shelters, or download the free Red Cross Emergency app for immediate support and information.
