Fort Branch man arrested for DUI.

On April 27, 2026, at approximately 1 a.m., Deputy Levi Sims and other law enforcement officers were standing outside the FastBreak Convenience Store located at the intersection of Oak Street and U.S. 41 in Fort Branch.  At that time, officers observed a Silver 2003 GMC truck traveling eastbound past the store.

The vehicle then made a wide left turn onto U.S. 41 headed northbound and struck a brick mailbox on the east side of the roadway.  Deputies Levi Sims and Wyatt Lashbrook followed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on Strain Street near U.S. 41.

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers detected multiple indicators that the driver may be intoxicated.  The driver was identified as Brian Hasselbrinck, age 34, of Fort Branch, Indiana.  Deputy Levi Sims began a roadside DUI investigation.

Following the completion of the investigation, Mr. Hasselbrinck was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Detention Center, where he was booked for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
