The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is investigating an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS) that occurred just before 4:00 p.m. on April 27, 2026, in the 1800 block of 89th Avenue. OPD Communications Division received several 911 calls from residents reporting a man pointing a firearm at people in the 2000 block of Auseon Avenue.

Once on scene, officers located the armed individual in the 1900 block of Auseon Avenue. As officers approached, the suspect pointed his firearm at them. Officers requested additional units. The suspect then moved to a yard in the 1800 block of 89th Avenue, where he again pointed the firearm at officers. Officers then fired at him.
