Wilmington Police investigating possible commercial burglary trend, requesting public assistance:
The Wilmington Police Department is investigating a number of commercial burglary incidents on the West Side of the City, and detectives are asking for the public’s assistance.
Between April 5 and April 27, police have responded to reports of commercial burglaries or attempted burglaries at a total of 11 business locations, all located in neighborhoods west of I-95. Locations of burglary incidents include businesses in the 300 block of North Union Street; 1800 block of Lancaster Avenue; 1000 block of West 4th Street (multiple incidents spanning several hours); 1400 block of Lancaster Avenue (two incidents, several days apart); 1800 block of West 3rd Street; 1700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue; 1600 block of Gilpin Avenue; 1700 block of Augustine Cutoff and the 1300 block of North Union Street (two incidents, ten days apart). Attempted burglary incidents also took place at two locations, with one in the 100 block of North Lincoln Street and one in the 400 block of North DuPont Street.
These cases have been assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division, and investigators are working to confirm possible connections between the incidents and to gather additional evidence as they work to identify those responsible.
