WATER RESTRICTIONS IN EFFECT for Town Of Silverton.
Section 1. Water Use Restrictions: Silverton Municipal Code 13-1-20 & 13-1-30
1. Persons are urged to use any means possible to conserve water in their homes.
2. Washing of public or private sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, patios, or other hard surfaces with municipal treated water is prohibited. Municipal watering of streets with raw (untreated) water shall be reduced or eliminated at the judgment of the Public Works Director depending upon the severity of the water situation compared against the need to reduce and mitigate against air quality concerns.
3. Power washing of structures with municipal treated water is prohibited with the exception that limited commercial power washing of structures is allowed only for exterior paint preparation and related repairs.
4. Filling, refilling or replacement of water in swimming pools or landscape water features with municipal treated water is prohibited, however, limited water use to accommodate for evaporative losses is permitted.
5. Washing of motor vehicles, trailers or boats with municipal treated water is prohibited.
6. Use of municipal treated water for irrigation for any public or private lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, plants or other grass areas shall be prohibited except for a period not to exceed thirty (30) minutes upon the following days, either before 9 am or after 9 pm:
• Monday, Wednesday, Friday for residents and businesses with odd-numbered addresses;
• Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for residents and businesses with even-numbered addresses; and
• Sundays for all residents
NOTE: Any business involving the growing and selling of plants shall be exempt from these irrigation restrictions with respect to irrigation water for such plants only. The watering of food crops shall be exempted from these restrictions for such plants only. Drip irrigation systems shall also be exempt from these restrictions. Fragile and newly planted landscape watering may be exempted on a case-by-case basis by permission from the Public Works;
Section 2. Penalties.
1st Offense- Written Warning
2nd Offense - $300 fine,
3rd/Subsequent Offense - $500 fine.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage by the Board of Trustees.
THIS RESOLUTION was approved and adopted the 27th day of April, 2026, by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Silverton, Colorado.
