Police Seek Help Identifying Theft from Auto Suspect
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help identifying the suspect pictured below, who took a victim’s wallet from his vehicle on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
The victim reported to police that he parked his vehicle at approximately 7:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Isabella Avenue and mistakenly left his front passenger window down. When he returned at 9 a.m., the victim’s wallet was missing, and personal belongings were scattered inside the vehicle.
The suspect, a man with a thin build, was captured on surveillance video removing the victim’s wallet. He was wearing a navy-blue baseball hat, a blue jean jacket, a red T-shirt, blue jeans, red sneakers, and eyeglasses.
Director Miranda urges anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are confidential and could result in a reward.
