Newark, California (Friday May 1, 2026)
On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, The Newark Police Department conducted a proactive, multi-agency operation aimed at identifying and apprehending individuals seeking to exploit minors online. The operation resulted in the arrest of three adult males who traveled to the City of Newark with the intent to engage in sexual acts with a minor.
The following individuals were arrested:
- Jin Wang, 63-year-old resident of Fremont
- Anish Nishchal Dutt, 48-year-old resident of San Leandro
- Martin Benjamin Capati, 31-year-old resident of Mountain View
Each suspect was taken into custody after communicating online with an undercover officer posing as a minor and subsequently traveling to meet for the purpose of engaging in unlawful sexual activity.
This operation underscores the Newark Police Department’s ongoing commitment to protect children and proactively identifying individuals who seek to exploit minors. Efforts such as these are especially important during Sexual Assault Awareness Month, as we continue to raise awareness and strengthen prevention and enforcement efforts within our community.
The Newark Police Department extends its appreciation to the following partner agencies for their collaboration and support: Fremont Police Department, Menlo Park Police Department, Union City Police Department, Southern Alameda County Major Crimes Task Force, and Northern California Regional Intelligence Center (NCRIC).
