Community Bulletin – Flock License Plate Reading Cameras

On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, the El Cerrito City Council will be deciding to cancel or renew an agreement with Flock Safety for license plate reading cameras in El Cerrito. If the City Council decides to cancel the contract, all cameras will be turned off on June 7, 2026.

The El Cerrito Police Department has found the License Plate Reading Camera system to be an effective tool to help them solve more cases, prevent crime, and lower crime rates.

If you want your voice to be heard you can appear at the meeting in person, tune in on Zoom, or submit written comments in advance of the meeting. The meeting begins at 6:00 pm; the City expects the Flock discussion to begin around 8:00 pm.

You can submit written comments to: [email protected]. Please indicate Agenda Item #9B.
