"Swatting" Call for Service in Rosemead #LASD
On May 1, 2026, at approximately 7:12 a.m., deputies responded to a family disturbance on the 3300 block of Kelburn Avenue, in the city of Rosemead. The call stated someone had been shot at the location. Deputies determined a shooting had not occurred and no one was injured. An investigation revealed this to be a “swatting” call and the 4th such incident to occur at the location. “Swatting” is a term describing a suspect who deceives emergency services into sending an armed response. False Reporting of an Emergency is a violation of California Penal Code 148.3.
These incidents are actively being investigated. It is important for the public to be aware that any person(s) responsible for the swatting calls can face criminal charges and civil liabilities for the unnecessary deployment of law enforcement personnel.
