Driver Arrested After Greenbrae DUI Collision
On May 1, 2026, at approximately 6:24pm, CMPA officers responded to a solo-vehicle collision at the E. Sir Francis Drake Bl/US Hwy 101 Interchange in Greenbrae. A Jeep Cherokee traveling westbound on E. Sir Francis Drake Bl veered from its lane, narrowly missed hitting other vehicles on the roadway, and collided into a traffic signal and concrete pillar for the Interchange, causing major damage to the vehicle. Officers on scene obtained statements from witnesses, as well as video from a ride-share vehicle that captured the collision directly behind it.
Central Marin Fire Department transported the driver and sole occupant of the Jeep to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. CMPA officers, having smelled alcohol emitting from the driver at the collision scene, responded to the hospital and conducted a DUI investigation. It was determined that the 66-year-old Mill Valley resident was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision and he was subsequently arrested. The driver’s BAC was .20%, over twice the legal limit. Due to the injuries and anticipated prolonged stay in the hospital, the driver was issued a misdemeanor citation and released to medical staff for 23152(a) CVC and 23152(b) CVC – DUI.
Central Marin Police would like to thank the witnesses that stayed to assist the driver and provide statements/video for the investigation. Thankfully no other vehicles were involved, and no other motorists were injured.
We would like to remind our communities of the dangers of driving under the influence and to arrange for a designated driver, taxi, or alternative ride-share service if consuming alcohol or other intoxicants.
