On 12/1/2024 the Hillsborough School District Office was burglarized and two vehicles were stolen. HPD Inspectors worked with the Livermore Police Department, East Bay Regional Parks Police, Campbell Police Department, and South San Francisco Police Department to identify the primary suspect. An arrest warrant was obtained for the suspect and he was taken into custody. In November of 2025, the San Mateo County Crime Lab located a second suspect’s DNA in a stolen vehicle and he was subsequently identified through a CODIS hit. HPD Inspectors obtained a search warrant and obtained a DNA sample from the suspect. An arrest warrant will be sought once his DNA is analyzed.
Sexual Assault
On 3/3/26 the Hillsborough Police Department was notified by the San Mateo Police Department of a possible sexual assault in which the juvenile suspect resided in Hillsborough. HPD Inspectors arranged a forensic interview with the victim in which multiple crimes were alleged in both San Mateo and Hillsborough. HPD Inspectors conducted multiple interviews with the victim and multiple witnesses. The case was subsequently forwarded to the DA’s Office and Juvenile Probation for review.
Theft
In March of 2026, an 80-year-old Hillsborough resident reported that she believed her house cleaner had stolen from her. She reported that between the months of October to March, she began to notice that jewelry and money were missing. The resident stated that she lived alone and that there was nobody else that would have had access to her home. HPD Inspectors began an investigation and identified the house cleaner, a Bay Area resident. Investigators learned that the house cleaner had been accused of similar thefts while cleaning houses for multiple parties throughout the Bay Area. On 4/29/26, Inspectors executed a search warrant and located some of the resident’s stolen property. The investigation is ongoing.
