Central Marin Police Arrest Man for Felony Theft, Fraud and Drug Crimes
On May 2, 2026, a Corte Madera resident reported his vehicle had been entered overnight (in a neighborhood around Corte Madera Town Park) and several pieces of property were stolen, including identity documents and credit cards. The stolen credit cards were fraudulently used at several stores in Marin County. The victim provided video surveillance footage of the crime and the image of the suspect was disseminated to other Central Marin Police Authority (CMPA) officers. A CMPA officer recognized the suspect (wearing the same clothing) from a suspicious vehicle investigation two nights prior and identified him as a 42-year-old resident of Marin and San Francisco, Brian Jordan.
On the morning of May 3, 2026, the investigating officer established probable cause for the now-identified suspect and issued a BOL (Be On The Lookout) to other Marin law enforcement agencies. Prior to the BOL being broadcast, however, another CMPA officer keenly observed the suspect driving a vehicle known to be registered to him on Paradise Dr. in Corte Madera. Pursuant to a traffic stop, the vehicle yielded at the CHP office. Jordan was taken into custody without incident for grand theft (487PC).
Based on known facts and evidence of the theft seen in plain view in the vehicle, a probable cause search of the suspect’s car was conducted for additional evidence. Several grams of various narcotics were seized, including methamphetamine and suspected fentanyl. Due to the suspect’s prior convictions, under Prop 36 passed in 2024, he was also arrested for possession of controlled substances with prior convictions (11395H&S). Burglary tools (466PC) and narcotics paraphernalia (11364H&S) were also seized. Stolen mail from Tiburon was located and the suspect was additionally arrested for possession of stolen property (496PC). Evidence from the original theft was found, including property with the victim’s name. Additional evidence was located in the vehicle and, through further investigation, showed that Jordan used the victim’s credit cards to make fraudulent purchases at various Marin County retail stores. He was also arrested for burglary (459PC), fraudulent use of a credit card (484(g)PC), and identity theft (530.5PC).
We would like to remind members of our communities that property crimes (particularly theft) are unfortunately common and to keep vehicles locked and valuables not left inside. As in this case, good quality video cameras can be a valuable and easy-to-use investment.
