SUSPECT(S): Matthew Clark, 52-year-old, Resident of Oxnard
VICTIM(S): Three Adult Females

The San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office filed charges against Matthew Clark, including two counts of second-degree murder and driving under the influence causing great bodily injury. Clark was released from custody after posting bail. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for Clark.
On Tuesday July 21, 2026, Clark was re-arrested by the Sheriff's Departments Specialized Enforcement Division. Clark is currently being held at the Central Detention Center without bail.

SUMMARY: A 52-year-old man from Oxnard, identified as Matthew Clark, was driving a white Ford Super Duty pickup truck southbound on Cienega Road as he approached the stop sign at Big Bear Boulevard. An adult female of Big Bear Lake was driving a red Subaru Crosstrek westbound on Big Bear Boulevard toward the same intersection. Clark failed to stop and yield at the posted stop sign and proceeded into the intersection, striking the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle.
One passenger in the victim's vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second passenger in the same vehicle was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, where they later succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the Subaru sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Clark sustained minor injuries and was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for treatment. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Clark was booked into custody at West Valley Detention Center and held on $250,000 bail.
