Two Arrested After OPD Recovers Multiple Firearms
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) has arrested two adults following the recovery of multiple firearms, including a stolen illegal assault rifle, during an investigation in East Oakland.
On May 3, 2026, just after 2:15 a.m., OPD officers responded to the 7500 block of Arthur Street following a ShotSpotter activation.
When officers arrived, they saw a party in the backyard of a residence and found evidence of a shooting.
Officers detained several individuals during the investigation. They also noticed two rifles and a handgun hidden behind a garage near the property. One rifle, identified as an illegal assault rifle, had previously been reported stolen.
Investigators authored a search warrant, resulting in the recovery of two firearms, one from a vehicle in the driveway and another from inside the residence.
Officers also recovered two additional firearms during the investigation, including a stolen handgun.
Officers additionally recovered evidence consistent with narcotics sales.
Both adults arrested were residents associated with the location and now face multiple felony charges.
