DATE/TIME: May 6, 2026 at 8:47 p.m.
INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Pinon Avenue and Olive Street, Hesperia
VICTIM: Adult Male, Resident of Hesperia
SUMMARY: On May 6, 2026, at approximately 8:47 p.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Hesperia Station and personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire responded to the intersection of Pinon Avenue and Olive Street regarding a single vehicle traffic collision. The vehicle had caught on fire after colliding with a brick wall.
Upon arrival, emergency personnel found the vehicle overturned on its driver’s side and fully engulfed in flames.. Fire personnel extinguished the fire and immediately removed the driver from the vehicle. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel.
The Hesperia Station’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Olive Street at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to negotiate the turn onto Pinon Street, causing the vehicle to collide with a brick wall at the intersection. The force of the collision caused the vehicle to overturn and become engulfed in flames. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the cause of this collision.
Anyone with additional information regarding this collision is asked to contact Deputy N. Sosa at the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Hesperia Station at (760) 947-1500.
