On May 7, 2026, at 2:51 p.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a report of a theft from the Huck’s gas station located at the corner of US 41 and State Road 168. Detective Roger Ballard responded to the call and spoke with an employee on duty. After getting a detailed description of the suspect and an idea of the items taken, Detective Ballard observed 44-year-old Derek Jones walking in the area and continued his investigation. While speaking with Mr. Jones he admitted to having taken items from the store without paying and was found to be in possession of those items. At that point Mr. Jones was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Detention Center where he was charged with Theft.
