Beginning at 6AM, Saturday (5/9), Sherman Ave will be closed between Grant Ave and DeLong Ave for the annual School Fuel Event. An increase in families with young children are expected to be riding bicycles in the area and along routes during closure times. Temporary road closures will occur to safely accommodate participants and the community. Proceed with caution and allow extra space for cyclists to safely ride in the roadway.

Please Note: Grant Ave will not be closed, however may be impacted by intermittent road closures.
Closure Time: 6AM - 3PM
Locations: Sherman Ave + additional streets around Novato (See Map)

Driver Safety Tips:

• Slow down and follow the speed limit. Be careful traveling through intersections.
• Look carefully for bicyclists and pedestrians before making a turn or opening a car door near streets or bike paths.
• Be patient when traveling behind a bicyclist and give them space when passing. California law requires drivers to change a lane, when possible, to pass bicyclists and always pass with at least 3 feet of space.
• Never drive distracted or impaired.

Intermittent road closures will help alleviate traffic congestion, grid lock, and keep traffic flow disruptions to a minimum. The Novato Police Department will be working these events to reasonably accommodate any traffic related issues. Please use alternative routes when necessary. We request those who cannot avoid the area to allow plenty of time for travel. Community patience and understanding are greatly appreciated.
