DETAILS:
On Thursday, May 7, 2026, at approximately 11:32 p.m., Amarillo Police Department officers responded to the 300 block of N. Pierce on a reported traffic crash involving a vehicle and a tree.
Upon arrival, officers learned the Dodge pickup had been traveling south on Pierce when it left the roadway and struck a tree. There were two occupants inside the vehicle.
The driver, identified as 36-year-old Justin Richardson, died at the scene as a result of his injuries. A juvenile male passenger was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
The families of both occupants have been notified.
The investigation is ongoing.
