UPDATE: As of 4:30 p.m., thanks to the public’s assistance and reports of possible sightings, 73-year-old Joel Eddy has been located safe.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office thanks everyone who shared information and assisted in locating him.

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Joel Eddy, a 73-year-old missing and endangered man.
Eddy was last seen leaving Sprenger Healthcare, located at 60 Okatie Center Boulevard South in Okatie, at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2026, and has not returned.
He was last seen wearing:
- A royal blue shirt
- Blue jean pants
- A veterans hat
He was also pushing a walker.
There is concern for Eddy’s safety and well-being.
Anyone who sees Joel Eddy or has information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
