UPDATE: Police Activity, 600 block of Enright Avenue

UPDATE: On May 8, 2026, in the evening hours, the Santa Clara Police Department with the assistance of drones were able to locate a body inside the rear of the burned residence on Enright Avenue. At that time, the residence had significant structural damage and still presented ongoing hazards. City building officials provided mitigation requirements for entering the structure.  On May 9, 2026, at about 1100 hours, the residence was determined safe for entry from the Santa Clara Fire Department.  SCPD Investigators and members of the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner were at that point able to approach the body. SCPD Detectives have continued to investigate this case, using all available resources, and believe this was a targeted attack with no further threat to public safety. SCPD Detectives were assisted throughout this investigation by members of the Santa Clara Fire Department, Santa Clara County Crime Lab, and Santa Clara County Arson Task Force. The motive and circumstances associated to this incident are still under investigation.

UPDATE: On May 8, 2026, at about 1230 p.m., Santa Clara Police Department Officers responded to the report of a possible person shot in the 600 block of Enright Avenue. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult male in front of a residence suffering from at least one gunshot wound, who was later pronounced deceased at the scene. Officers also determined a residence in the area was actively on fire and requested Santa Clara Fire Department to respond. The SCPD Investigations Unit responded to the scene and is investigating the incident.  This remains an active investigation and the suspect is not in custody.
