Wilmington Police have arrested a juvenile male on gun charges.
On May 5th at approximately 2:44 p.m., members of the Gun Intelligence Unit were in the area of Northeast Boulevard and East 16th Street when they observed a 17-year-old juvenile male acting suspiciously. Officers attempted to make contact with the juvenile male, at which time he fled the area on foot. A short time later, the male subject was taken into custody without further incident. Officers recovered a loaded .9mm handgun.
The 17-year-old juvenile male has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited- Two Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Resisting Arrest
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center pending further proceedings.
