Learn more about the Hoboken Housing Authority Redevelopment Plan

Residents are invited to attend a community meeting about Phase 1 of the Hoboken Housing Authority (HHA) Redevelopment Plan on Wednesday, May 13, at 6 p.m. at 123 Jefferson St.

The City and HHA will discuss the plan to redevelop and rehabilitate the Hoboken Housing Authority’s aging housing stock, while ensuring that current residents are not permanently displaced as adopted by the Hoboken City Council following several public meetings, engagement sessions, and HHA board meetings.

The redevelopment plan calls for the rehabilitation or replacement of 1,354 existing housing units through the construction of new buildings ranging from six to 12 stories. It also includes significant infrastructure improvements, such as upgrades to stormwater and sewer systems to help reduce flooding. In addition, the plan proposes transportation improvements to enhance accessibility and circulation, the creation of a commercial corridor along Jackson Street, and the development of community-focused amenities. These amenities include new recreation spaces and a resiliency park along Marshall Street.

The project will be carried out in phases over the next 10 years and will minimize disruption to the more than 2,500 residents of the HHA. This phased approach is designed to reduce the need for relocations while prioritizing the timely replacement of existing housing.

The plan also allows for the future development of additional residential units, including affordable and workforce housing.

This meeting will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about Phase 1 of the redevelopment plan, ask questions, and share their feedback.
