National Police Week: Week of May 15
The week of May 15 is recognized as National Police Week. In honor of this week, the Idaho Peace Officers’ Memorial (IPOM), located in Meridian, Idaho, annually hosts the Idaho Peace Officers’ Memorial Ceremonies.
“Idaho Peace Officers’ Memorial Ceremonies have been conducted at the Memorial since 1995 and honor the officers who have fallen in the line of duty, recognizing the sacrifice of those loved and left behind.”
This year, members of our Honor Guard participated in the Rose Ceremony to honor the two Pocatello Police Officers whose names are engraved on the Memorial Wall:
- Officer J.C. Sherrod – End of Watch: Monday, October 14, 1918 – Gunfire
- Officer Sam Garbett – End of Watch: Wednesday, July 23, 1924 – Gunfire
