Starting Monday, June 8, 2026, the East Chicago Police Department will launch Phase 2 of its citywide street and alley enforcement initiative.
As part of this effort, officers will focus on:
• Abandoned vehicles
• Vehicles improperly parked in alleys or easements
• Vehicles with out-of-state plates that have not been registered in Indiana within the required 60-day residency period
Residents are encouraged to take this opportunity to remove abandoned vehicles and make sure registrations are up to date and in compliance with Indiana law.
Vehicles found in violation may receive warnings, citations, or be subject to towing.
