Wilmington Police have arrested two men and recovered a stolen firearm.
On May 8 at approximately 3:32 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Vandever Avenue and Thatcher Street in reference to a call about a disorderly group and a person with a firearm. Responding officers attempted to make contact with two men, who both fled on foot. After short foot pursuits, police took 18-year-old Hasaan Clark and 20-year-old Naim Benson into custody without incident, and subsequently recovered a loaded .45-caliber handgun that had been reported stolen in November 2013.
Clark has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
- Receiving a Stolen Firearm
- Resisting Arrest
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $30,000 cash-only bail.
Benson has been charged with the following offense:
