Burn Ban Remains in Effect
A burning ban remains in effect until further notice.
Exceptionally hot, dry, and windy conditions move into our area Thursday night and remain in place through Saturday. Friday will be especially dangerous, any fire that escapes will spread rapidly and burn with a high intensity.
911 is the only number you need to dial if you see a wildfire. The dispatcher on the phone will take care of all other notifications.
A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for our area for Friday. This may be upgraded to a Red Flag Warning. Smokey Bear is forecast to move from VERY HIGH to EXTREME on Friday.
Rain will move back into the area later on Sunday.
BURN BAN NOTICE REMINDER
As of Thursday, May 7th, 2026:
ALL burning on the Bad River Reservation is banned due to elevated fire danger.
This restriction is in effect until further notice.
Other burning restrictions may be in place outside of the Bad River Reservation, check Wisconsin DNR website for those restrictions. Human activities cause 98% of wildfires statewide.
Ceremonial fires are still allowed within the Reservation boundary, but maximum safety precautions must be followed, and the Chief Warden must be notified of the general location beforehand.
