...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM MDT THIS EVENING DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS, THE NORTHEAST PLAINS, MIDDLE RIO GRANDE VALLEY, CENTRAL HIGHLANDS, AND EAST CENTRAL PLAINS... .Strong southwest winds and single digit humidity with dry fuels will lead to critical fire weather conditions along the I-25 corridor of northeast NM today. A more extensive fire growing pattern is likely to begin Saturday with strong south to southwest winds, single digit humidity, hot temperatures, and receptive fuel conditions. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque NM has issued a Fire Weather Watch.
* AFFECTED AREA...Northeast Plains (Zone 104), Middle Rio Grande Valley (Zone 106), Central Highlands (Zone 125), and East Central Plains (Zone 126).
* TIMING...From Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...South to southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Relative humidity between 6 and 11 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
