El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from May 3rd to May 9th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from May 3rd to May 9th.     
 

May 3rd
Vandalism/Assault With a Deadly Weapon – 11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway):
At 5:47 AM, officers arrested a suspect after they threw full champagne bottles at a security guard after being confronted for shoplifting.  The suspect also caused extensive property damage when she threw items around in the store.  The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 
 
Commercial Burglary - 11481 San Pablo Ave:
At 8:07 AM, an officer noticed an unsecured door to the vacant building and conducted a security check. The officer contacted the owner who responded later in the day and discovered unknown suspects had stole property from the building.
 
Driving Under the Influence/Hit and Run - San Pablo Ave/Portola Dr:
At 4:09 PM, a sergeant heard the impact of a collision and saw the suspect vehicle fleeing the scene. The sergeant caught up with the vehicle several blocks away and conducted a traffic enforcement stop. The driver appeared intoxicated. Officers conducted a DUI investigation and arrested the driver for DUI and hit and run. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
 
Shoplift - 11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway):
At 9:04 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect fled the business with unpaid merchandise.

Public Intoxication - Arlington Blvd/Buckingham Dr:
At 11:43 PM, an officer located a subject that was intoxicated and unable to care for thenself. The subject was taken into custody and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. After booking, the subject was issued a citation and released to a sober relative.

May 4th
Warrant Arrest – Portola Drive and San Pablo Ave.
At 12:10 PM, an officer located a subject who had an outstanding arrest warrant.  The suspect was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, cited, and released.

Battery – 11821 San Pablo Ave (McDonalds):
At 10:40 PM, an unknown suspect pushed the victim and fled the scene.  Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave/Blake Street:
At 5:20 AM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested the subject on a misdemeanor warrant.  The subject was placed under arrest, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.  
 
May 5th
Vandalism – 10900 San Pablo Ave (El Cerrito Fire Department):
At 7:15 AM, Officers report a window of the building was intentionally broken.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – 1300 block of Rifle Range Rd:
At 2:08 PM, Officers report the recovery of a stolen tractor.

Vehicle Burglary – 3300 block of Santa Clara Ave:
At 3:56 PM, the victim reports their vehicle was broken into and items were stolen.

Public Intoxication – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At 7:44 PM, officers responded to a disturbance in front of the business.  Officers located a subject who was highly intoxicated.  The subject was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest – 5010 El Cerrito Plaza.
At 2:11 AM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a subject with two misdemeanor warrants for their arrest.  The subject was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

May 6th
Residential Burglary – 6800 block of Waldo Ave:
At 10:02 AM, Officers were dispatched to a residence in response to multiple activations of a residential alarm.  Upon arrival, Officers located a damaged, unsecured door and ensured there were no suspects inside of the residence.  With the assistance of the homeowner, Officers conducted an investigation, locating video footage from a neighboring residence. Using FLOCK camera systems, a suspect vehicle was identified.

Identity Theft – 600 block of Liberty Street:
At 2:05 PM, the victim reports their personal identification was used for financial gain.

Robbery/Assault on Peace Officer/Probation Violation/Obstructing Peace Officer/Warrant Arrest – 670 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 7:07 PM, officers responded to the report of shoplifting.  The suspect was located nearby and attempted to walk away from officers.  After being stopped, the suspect threw a punch at an officer.  During the investigation the suspect threatened violence towards the employees during the theft.  The suspect was on active felony probation and also had a felony warrant for their arrest.  The suspect was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 10650 San Pablo Ave (AutoZone):
At 10:59 PM, officers received a Flock notification of a stolen vehicle entering the city.  Officers located the vehicle unoccupied a short time later and recovered the vehicle.

Warrant Arrest – 225 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 4:52 AM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a subject for a misdemeanor warrant.  The subject was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
 
May 7th
Stolen Vehicle – 2100 block of Pinehurst Court:
At 12:00 PM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen.

Stolen Vehicle – 2200 block of Mono Avenue:
At 3:34 PM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen.

Driving Under the Influence/Possession of a Concealed Firearm/Felon in Possession of Ammunition/Possession of Narcotics while armed with a firearm/Sales and Transportation of Narcotics - Carlson Blvd./Bayview Ave:
At 12:18 AM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. During a search of the vehicle, a loaded firearm and a large quantity of narcotics were located.  The driver was a convicted felon.  The driver was placed under arrest, booked the the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

May 8th
Battery – San Pablo Ave/Wall Ave:
At 9:01 AM, an officer reports the victim was sitting at the bus stop waiting for a bus when the unidentified suspect walked up and then punched the victim.

Robbery – 540 Ashbury Ave (El Cerrito High School): 
At 2:15 PM, an officer reports the victim was robbed of his watch at school.

Assault - 11821 San Pablo Ave (McDonalds):
At 7:00 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect attempted to hit the victim with his fist. The victim stated the suspect was the same suspect who battered another victim several days ago. The suspect also matched the description of the suspect from a battery that was reported earlier in the day. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. At 7:51 PM, an officer on patrol located a subject who matched the description of the suspect and detained them. An infield show-up was conducted and the victim identified the subject as the person who assaulted them. After the suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

Auto Burglary - 1400 block of S. 56th Street:
At 7:10 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s locked vehicle and stole property.

Driving Under the Influence/Unlicensed - San Pablo Ave/Bayview Ave:
At 11:41 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence and suspended license. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, then issued a citation, and released to a sober friend.

May 9th
Driving Under the Influence - San Pablo Ave/Central Ave:
At 2:02 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, then issued a citation, and released to a sober relative.

Warrant Arrest – Kearney Street/Conlon Avenue:
At 1:32 PM, an officer located and arrested a person on three outstanding arrest warrants.
