Needles Couple Arrested After Deputies Find Children Living in Unsanitary Conditions

DATE/TIME: Friday, May 15, 2026, at approximately 1:26 p.m.

INCIDENT: PC 273A(A) - Child Abuse / Neglect

LOCATION: 300 block of Cibola Street, Needles, CA 

SUSPECT(S): Daniel Staniforth, 39-years-old, Resident of Needles, CA
                        Stephanie Staniforth, 31-years-old, Resident of Needles, CA


VICTIM(S): Confidential


SUMMARY: On Friday, May 15, 2026, deputies from the Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department responded to the 300 block of Cibola Street, reference a well check involving several children residing at the residence. 

During the investigation, it was determined the children appeared to be unclean and in need of care.  Deputies observed the residence and discovered conditions that posed significant health and safety concerns.  The interior of the house was found to be extremely unsanitary, to include rotten food and bugs throughout the residence.  Based on the totality of the circumstances and the condition of the residence, the two adult parents were arrested.

Daniel Staniforth and Stephanie Staniforth were both subsequently arrested on the above mention charges and transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking.  Both Daniel Staniforth and Stephanie Staniforth remain in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with a bail amount of $50,000.00 each, awaiting a court hearing. 

Child Protective Services was notified and the four children were placed into temporary protective care.  This is an ongoing investigation.
