INCIDENT: PC 69(A) - Felony Obstructing/Resisting a Police Officer
LOCATION: Needles Hwy and Sherman Street, Needles, CA
SUSPECT(S): Tommy Hunter, 53-years-old, Resident of Needles, CA
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at approximately 12:20 a.m., deputies assigned to the Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department conducted a traffic enforcement stop near Needles Hwy and Sherman Street in the City of Needles for vehicle code violations.
Upon contacting the driver, later identified as Tommy Hunter, deputies requested Hunter to identify himself or provide his identification. Hunter refused to provide any information and despite multiple lawful commands, Hunter refused to exit the vehicle. After several attempts to gain compliance, deputies attempted to remove Hunter from the vehicle; however, those efforts were unsuccessful.
Eventually deputies were able to gain compliance and Hunter was arrested and taken into custody without further incident. Hunter was transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking and remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with a bail amount of $30,000.00, awaiting a court hearing.
