Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection to a carjacking and multiple armed robberies following an investigation.
Between May 11th and May 12th, members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to a carjacking that occurred in the 2700 block of North Market Street and four separate armed robberies that occurred in the 100 block of Vandever Avenue, the 2400 block of Northeast Boulevard and the 3500 block of North Market Street. The cases were assigned to Detective Johnnie Everett and Detective Michael Hayman of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of the investigation, Detective Everett and Detective Hayman identified 57-year-old Michael Reynolds as the suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.
On May 13th officers located Reynolds residing in a vacant property in the unit block of East 30th Street. Officers attempted to make contact with Reynolds, who fled inside the vacant property and barricaded himself. A short time later, Reynolds attempted to flee the property and was taken into custody without further incident.
Reynolds has been charged with the following offenses in addition to his outstanding warrants out of the Delaware State Police and New Castle County Police Department:
- Robbery (First Degree)- Four Counts
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony- Four Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon- Three Counts
- Theft Under $1,500 (Victim 62 years or Older)
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $980,000 cash-only bail.
