Know Your Zone: Public Safety Officials Continue Monitoring Evacuation Statuses Related to Sandy Fire
Public safety officials are urging community members impacted by the Sandy Fire to know their evacuation zone and continue monitoring official emergency information sources, as evacuation statuses continue to change across affected areas.
As fire conditions continue to change, public safety officials are actively evaluating evacuation zones for potential downgrades or releases as conditions allow. Evacuation statuses may continue changing throughout the day based on fire behavior, weather conditions, and ongoing public safety assessments.
The Sandy Fire remains approximately 1,698 acres. Firefighters made good progress overnight, increasing containment to 15% as crews continue strengthening containment lines and addressing hotspots throughout impacted areas.
More than 900 firefighters, law enforcement personnel, and emergency services personnel remain assigned to the incident under unified command, continuing fire suppression operations, evacuations, structure protection efforts, traffic control, and emergency response operations throughout affected areas of Simi Valley and surrounding communities.
While some conditions have stabilized, weather and fire behavior can continue to change rapidly. The public should remain alert, follow all evacuation directives, and continue monitoring official emergency information sources for updates.
All evacuation status changes will continue to be communicated through Ventura County Alert notifications and official emergency communication channels.
