Wilmington Police arrest one adult male and three juvenile males in connection to an armed carjacking:

Wilmington Police have arrested one adult male and three juvenile males in connection to an armed carjacking following an investigation.

On April 5th at approximately 7:15 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the area of West 2nd Street and Ogle Avenue in reference to an armed carjacking that occurred. The case was assigned to Detective Thomas Rittenhouse of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of the investigation Detective Rittenhouse identified 19-year-old Salat Collins, a 17-year-old male juvenile, a second 17-year-old male juvenile and a third 17-year-old male juvenile as suspects and obtained warrants for their arrest.

On April 8th at approximately 2:04 p.m., officers located Salat Collins and the first 17-year-old male juvenile in the 1300 block of Maple Street. Officers attempted to make contact with Collins and the first 17-year-old male, at which time they fled the area on foot. A short time later, Collins and the first 17-year-old male were taken into custody without further incident. Officers recovered a .40 caliber handgun.

On April 17th, a member of the Wilmington Police K-9 Unit located the second 17-year-old male juvenile, who was taken into custody without incident.

On May 13th, officers executed a search warrant in the 1200 block of Maple Street and located the third 17-year-old male juvenile, who was taken into custody without incident. Officers recovered a loaded .9mm handgun and a loaded .45 caliber handgun. Officers confirmed one handgun was reported as stolen from Chester Police Department.

Salat Collins has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Robbery (First Degree)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited- Three Counts
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Resisting Arrest
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Superior Court and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $103,000 cash-only bail.

The first 17-year-old male juvenile has been charged with the following offenses:
  • Robbery (First Degree)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
  • Resisting arrest
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was held on $55,000 cash-only bail.

The second 17-year-old male juvenile has been charged with the following offenses:
  • Robbery (First Degree)
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited- Two Counts
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was held on $137,000 cash-only bail.

The third 17-year-old male juvenile has been charged with the following offenses:
  • Robbery (First Degree)
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited- Two Counts
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Family Court and was held on $155,000 cash-only bail.
