BOIL WATER ADVISORY
The Town of Old Fort has experienced a water main break in front of the Old Fort EMS Base, located at 1580 East Main Street, Old Fort, NC 28762. This break has caused a loss of water pressure in the system. As a precaution, all residences and businesses located east of the Old Fort EMS Base that are served by the Town of Old Fort water system are advised to boil water until further notice.
The North Carolina Division of Water Resources advises consumers to boil all water used for human consumption, including:
- Drinking
- Making ice
- Brushing teeth
- Washing dishes
- Food preparation
Alternatively, bottled water may be used.
Water should be brought to a vigorous boil for at least one (1) minute before use. Boiling kills harmful bacteria and other disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water.
This advisory is effective immediately and will remain in effect until further notice.
